Minister Hakeem was speaking at a ceremony held to mark the launch two Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 inland revenue stamps and a book on Lankan stamps compiled by the Philatelic Bureau.
The Minister said these two stamps would help end the problems faced by lawyers and land kachcheris due to the shortage of revenue stamps.
These two stamps will be valid only for a few months until sufficient high security stamp stocks arrive from foreign suppliers, he said.
These two revenue stamps were printed in Sri Lanka, which had never been done before.
Thirty five million stamps are due from a Lithuanian company within the next months, in the denominations of Rs.
